The Next Version

We hope you like the updates, but we were unable to fix all of the issues in this release. We’re already working hard on 2.6.5 to continue on the bug crusade. On a very high level, this is the plan for 2.6.5 currently:

1. Priority #1 is always to fix the issues you are reporting, so go ahead and download 2.6.4 and tell us your thoughts!
2. The rare duplication of content bug (some of you have reported that new posts sometimes inherits details from previous posts). We got a good lead on this.
3. Media uploader sometimes scales up small images if Original size is chosen.
4. Managing Pages in WordPress for iOS is a really bad experience, which we want to improve overall.

[It] fixes a core security bug in our HTML sanitation library, called KSES. I would rate this release as “critical.” I realize an update during the holidays is no fun, but this one is worth putting down the eggnog for. In the spirit of the holidays, consider helping your friends as well.

If you’re currently testing WordPress 3.1, make sure that you upgrade to the latest nightly release to get the same security fixes.

Every now and then someone finds something wrong with a WordPress install which, rather than be caused by a bug in WordPress itself, is caused by a server configuration error, an interaction between WordPress and something else installed on the server or is just a recommend optimization for better site performance.

Everyone has a different set of pitfalls that they have come across and I would like to collect together all these little things into a comprehensive community developed plugin which can hopefully become one of the first “canonical” plugins that we have talked about.

To that end I have developed a framework for this plugin, in the style of a unit test framework, to make it really easy to write tests and I am hoping that some of you will have ideas for tests and also that you will want to get involved.

The biggest percentage of bloggers is American bloggers, usually students and a great deal of housewives who obviously have time to spare. Americans because of their melting pot of culture have lots to blog about. The endless amounts of crafting ideas and hobbies for one can fill up dozens of blogs. The fact that the United States of America is composed of 50 states there is more than enough to be blogging about not to mention the number of Americans from every state or all the states. Blogging and blogs is a worldwide thing, the availability and blogging access is one of its main or key features. Students in America make up a great percentage of bloggers because most of them are enrolled in campuses on a different state. The idea is that they are technically foreigners of that state, their experiences and encounters with events or people they have met in that are gives them a lot to talk about. Blogs are online journals for most, it can or cannot be read by the public, it can or cannot be commented on. The simple fact is, blogs are published regardless of the plain Jane layout or the grammatical error filled entries; people will read, ridicule and sympathize.

In a search through Wikipedia, American Bloggers will produce an entry regarding the number of American bloggers on the internet. To date or at least on Wikipedia there are over 200 pages of popular American bloggers. Of course they have only documented the ones who are famous for their work or have achieved fame via blogging.

Not everyone on the internet is a thief; most people even kids are unaware of the rights they violate by using images, text, data or any other resource from another individual without that persons consent or permission. This concept is similar to an act of plagiarism or piracy. Bloggers must be constantly aware of their rights as well as the rights of others around them especially over the internet.

There is no known manual or user guide published at the moment pertaining to how bloggers are to conduct themselves in cyberspace especially with the availability of various resources. Below is a short unofficial list or guidelines a blogger must be aware of regarding the use of various media resources especially of news photos.

When using other people’s work, check for any available info regarding its usage. Did the owner state specific requirements regarding the use of their work? If there is nothing stated look for this person or this company’s contact information, email them. Ask permission, it is better to ask now that receive complaints about it later from its original owner. When adding words of wisdom or another person’s exact word per word though, quote them, this shows your respect for their work and your good intentions of merely using their thought and not claiming it as your own. The same is to be said with news photos, look for the publisher, photographer or the original owner, if there isn’t any available contact information again quote them for their work. Give credit where it is due.

A great deal of middle aged bloggers most of which are housewives have gone and blogged about quilting. Quilting is a craft and hobby that has been around for ages, quilting is a sewing method that is done either by hand or with the use of a sewing machine. The process involves joining two pieces of material often times are leftover fabric with the use of a needle and thread. Quilting began as a utility rather than serve decorative purposes. The use of old or leftover fabric helped in creating objects by recycling. This idea not only answered the clothing needs of most poor families by providing them with clothes as well as blankets to keep them warm during wintry months.

Women who have time to spare often enjoy doing these hobbies and quilting projects. It can be done alone or be done in groups where family, friends or neighbors gather together and piece together one giant quilt. The activity is fun, relaxing and promotes unity and cooperation amongst the quilters. Quilting or quilts are often found in the form of bedspreads, wall hangings, art pieces a variety of textile products are also employed in the art of quilting. Going back to the blogging community of quilters, the concept is the same as the traditional quilting group so to speak. Quilting bloggers share ideas, projects and even go to great lengths of documenting their projects via blog entries, photos and even videos. Quilting bloggers can now happily share their quilting talent, tips, tricks, patterns and projects to other people.

Blogging allows people to connect, to share and teach others about certain subject matters. It helps people young or old remain updated with the latest trends or at least be familiar with the current technological advancements. It strengthens existing communities and builds bridges to form new ones with people in other parts of the world who share the same interest.

Knowing that there is no restriction the blogosphere is the perfect arena for them to discuss delicate political matters or even question certain religious affairs. Liberalists prefer to discuss in groups, the idea that because the internet is available to everyone gives them the satisfaction that whatever political qualms or religious matters they blog about will induce some if not a great amount of response from all corners of the world. blogging is definitely one of the most widely used as well as the best inventions. Just remember take the time to relax, open your mind and study. Become part of the topic you want to make money with. Political sites will have posts about major political events. Political sites can be very intense on the subject of politics so you need to stay on your toes, be alert and make intelligent postings about politics.

Band of Bloggers aside from being a clever spin off, of the movie with the similar title is more importantly a documentary done by the history channel. This documentary showcases the most fascinating, in depth, first hand experiences and insights from soldiers deployed in Iraq. These blogs are the most popular ones that tell stories of war, of tactics and strategies, of keeping the faith, of homesickness. It is a compilation of thoughts from soldiers in the frontlines. And unlike your typical documentary Band of Bloggers offers a closer encounter as the soldiers themselves tell you their story. From the simplest daily routines to the most tedious tasks, Band of Bloggers is a documentary that shares with everyone the life and the daily accounts of soldiers. Stories about their comrades, their families, even their enemies, everything from good to bad.

Band of Bloggers is a fresh way of depicting and giving everyone front row seats of the best blogs filled with blow by blow accounts. With insights filled with pain, suffering even the simple beauty the soldiers are able to see in their war stricken surroundings. This documentary as expected is exquisitely and masterfully done by the History Channel. Band of Bloggers gives a direct view of the current situation in Iraq, the war, the environment even the civilians that get caught in the crossfire. This brainchild was brought about when the History Channel eventually tired of the stereotypically boring documentaries of war done years after. The History Channel has successfully compiled these blogs, bloggers and even video footages of the war while it is happening. It’s a story happening now, not before but now. It is up to date news, that will keep audiences glued to their tv sets, the stories will pull on heartstrings making everyone who watches it experience and see through the eyes of the brave soldiers who fight the war for us in the frontlines.
