The term blog somes from the word “web Log” and is an abbreviation. A blog is when someone writes a few paragraphs on anything that suits their fancy and posts it on a web page for the public to see much like a diary entry. A blog is a small website where the author or blogger records their thoughts and opinions. These are called blog posts and are regularly updated by the blogger. This process is called blogging. The term blogger can be confusing as it is used to mean the person who authors a blog post and the one who responds and comments on the posts.

A blogger can add audio or video to their blogs as well as use any writing style or language they choose. Any subject can be discussed in a blog it is up to the blogger. Since there is no real format required most people who blog write very informally.

Some blogs are written to be extremely controversial so that they generate publicity and draw people to their blog page. Often the views are written to get attention, although sometimes the views are indeed genuine.
